I started to be a big fan of VT Cosmetics since I tried their foundation, the VT X BTS Black Collagen Pact. I was attracted to try more, especially their base makeup. And one product that I kept eyeing was their Cica Redness Cover Cushion (seriously, I was like seeing my bias photo everytime I saw this product on my IG’s feeds, lol). And I finally got my cushion about a month ago, so I think I am good enough to write this review for you. They have 3 shades for this cushion and I purchased the darkest one, number 23 (Natural Beige). The others are number 13 (Vanilla Beige) and 21 (Light Beige).
Ah, in case you haven’t known yet, VT Cosmetics launched Cica X Care line in the midle of 2018. This line consists of skincare and makeup products that have Tiger Grass (Centella Asiatica) as their main ingredients. You know, this substant is very popular recently as it is able to treat acne and sensitive skin very well.
Aside from the main ingredient that would be perfect for my sensitive and acne prone skin, there was also another thing that intrigued me to try this cushion. A thing that makes this cushion looks very unique. What’s that? Mmm, keep reading please!
PACKAGING
The cushion comes in a bulky size compared with my other cushions but I do love its eye-catching design. It brings different vibes from the Collagen Pact which looks so elegant and luxurious. This one is cool and trendy with silver color and tiger carving.However, a good point having a big case is you also get a big mirror inside, right?
The bulky thing is not only the case but also the box, haha. The cushion case and its refill are housed in a massive transparent box. The ingredients list is in English but the other description is in Korean. I think VT Cosmetics should add more information about their product in English since they are popular around the world now.
This cushion foundation has a good puff, mmm, well almost good. I thought it would be a perfect puff since it is very thick, bouncy, and smooth (and, of course, it’s well-designed with the green tiger and strap). I enjoy using the puff to apply the foundation but due to the thickness, it’s a bit uncomfortable to reach some narrow and curved areas, like the inner corner of eyes and nose.
But however, VT Cosmetics made their puff in good quality and material. The strap may look flimsy but actually it is strong enough and doesn’t break easily. The elasticity of the puff itself is great and its quality doesn’t change even after I washed it many times.
TEXTURE & SCENT
So, like its name, this cushion is supposed to have good coverage and skin healing effect as well. Okay, let’s talk about the coverage first.
In the beginning of this review, I said that there is something unique with this cushion (and I think, so far I never found it from other cushion). Yeah, as you could see on the photos, this cushion has two colors. Isn’t that unique and pretty at the same time?
Green base and beige base. As we know, green base is a good color to cover redness. And the beige one to cover blemishes.Yesss, both of them work amazingly on my face. As you could see on photos, my bare skin was so bad with acne, pimples and redness everywhere. Just by applying a thin layer of this cushion, most of the imperfections are covered nicely. Awesome.
The texture of the foundie itself is lightweight and very easy to blend. Even when applying two layers, it doesn’t feel too heavy nor cakey. I think the green base has slightly more watery texture than the beige one. But when blended on face, I don’t feel any difference about the texture.
I highly recommend this cushion for sensitive and irritation skin. Aside from its main ingredient which is Centella Asiatica, it also has great cooling sensation when touch down on your skin. This feels sooo comfortable. Moreover, the cushion smells so fresh and nice. You could smell, mostly, tea tree and mint easily after opening the lid but it’s not over-fragranced.
COLORS
Ah, since it has green base which creates white and pale effect on skin, the shade becomes too bright on my skin even though I already picked the darkest shade. Thankfully, it doesn’t oxidize.The color turns more natural on my skin after minutes, but I’m not sure for people with darker skin than mine. However, VT Cosmetics should add more shades, I guess.
RESULT
The finish result of this cushion is slightly glowy and hydrating. It is a bit powdery on dry areas but doesn’t accentuate the dryness. In case, you have very dry skin, you can try the Moisture version of this cushion (the pink one). For oily-combi skin like mine, this original version is already moisturizing enough.
I don’t want to use this cushion alone without powder because its oil control is so so. Sadly, when the cushion meets my excess sebum, it becomes patchy especially on nose and inner cheeks area. Yeah, powder is a must then. I use Innisfree No Sebum Powder and so far this is the best pair. When I set it with powder, my skin started to be oily after 4 hours but the foundie was not patchy anymore. Good point, it didn’t crease on fine lines too.
Thank you to its main ingredients, Cica, which I really love for my acne prone skin. This cushion works effectively not only to cover my blemishes but also heal and treat them. It helps my blemishes dry faster and reduce the redness as I used it regularly around a month. I don’t worry anymore about my blemishes while wearing makeup.
I love this VT Cosmetics Cica Redness Cover Cushion. I LOVE it! I will put it as runner-up on my top base makeup list, right after The Black Collagen Pact since the first winner won on pore cover result. This Cica Cushion does cover my big pores but not as great as the Black Collagen Pact. But however, I love it, still.
I would recommend this cushion for acne prone and sensitive skin. Also, for anyone who wants a lightweight cushion with great coverage and hydrating power. Last but not least, of course, for anyone who lives in a tropical country, haha.
