[ REVIEW ] VT COSMETICS CICA REDNESS SPOT CONCEALER

Tuesday, April 4, 2023

Yahalloo!!!

Let’s getting back in touch with one of my favorite Korean skincare brands, VT Cosmetics. I have already reviewed several products of VT Cosmetics, just find them out on tags or simply click here. If you read my previous reviews, you probably know the reason why I love VT Cosmetics is because I got amazing experiences with their produts, and hence I want to explore this brand more and more. So, I hand-picked another product, which is Cica Redness Spot Concealer.

I’m actually not a big fan of concealer on my makeup routine. I’m a person who tends to choose a high coverage foundie for my full makeup look or just leave the flaws on my face as they are by applying a light tinted moisturizer for a daily look. Yet, since this concealer is on VT’s Cica series, which gave great results based on the other 2 products I tried before, so why not give it a try?

Well, wait no more, I'll let you jump right into the full review below!

PACKAGING

Frankly speaking, the outer box is not my cup of tea. The transparent plastic box is actually similar with the Cica Redness Cover Cushion I’ve reviewed before, and it doesn’t meet my liking. Although the outer box will not affect the quality of the concealer itself, but still ...

Moving on to the concealer tube. The design is sleek and clean, and for this one, I really like it. The tube is handy and easy to carry anywhere, put it in a makeup pouch or bag, that's fine and definitely won't take up much space. Convinced that it is a convenient product for traveling, the mouth of this tube is indeed quite safe because there is rubber which makes the lid close tightly, thus preventing the contents from spilling. This concealer could be your touch-up gear that will help a lot when you are on the go.

The applicator comes in a small brush, the kind you've probably seen a lot in concealer products. Even though it's short in size, it's comfortable to hold. The wand is sturdy, but the brush is a little more flexible so it's enjoyable to use. The brush tip is just the right size and the bristles are soft, so it's easy to use for small to large spots.

SCENT

VT Cosmetics Cica Redness Spot Concealer smells like most of Cica's skincare products. If I had to translate, it smells like herbal, has a bit of a minty scent but it's kinda refreshing. However, the scent is quite strong, and I believe it could be annoying enough if you guys have a sensitive nose. Personally, I don’t mind because my nose can still tolerate it. Besides, I'm already familiar with Cica's scents because I use a lot of those products.

COLORS

Mine is shade 02 which is Natural Beige. This product actually provides two shades, the other one being Light Beige which I think will be too light for my complexion, so skip it. My consideration is the cushion which I have tried before, I chose the shade Natural Beige, that's why I went to the same shade for the concealer. Unfortunately, the shade of this concealer is a bit darker than I expected. It tends to have warm undertones. Well, after all, a little trick using foundation or cushion that is applied together with this concealer, it's still wearable on my face.

A little information, even though this is the darkest color, this shade is a light color type. I think it will be less suitable for tan skin or exotic dark skin. Maybe VT Cosmetics' target market is more for Korean girls with fair skin. But I still hope this brand releases more diverse shades to embrace all skin tones.

TEXTURE

This product has a creamy texture and is quite dense. You can probably guess from that, true, it feels quite thick when blended. However, this product doesn't clump at all, which is what I like. It's quite easy to spread even though the texture isn't as light as I imagined. As for the end result itself, VT Cosmetics Cica Redness Spot Concealer offers a soft matte finish, well... a bit contrary to its glossy cushion. Maybe to balance?

RESULTS

I think it's true, you need to balance this concealer with a foundation or skincare that is extremely moist because the result is matte and lacks hydration. When I apply this product on my dry patches, it tends to dry out and accentuate the skin texture. I don't recommend using this concealer to cover eye bags because it will define eye lines, and on dry skin, it can look cracked.

As for the coverage itself, it's actually quite good, you can see in the photo. I tried applying 2 layers and the coverage is getting better, meaning it's buildable. Unfortunately, this is still tricky considering the results tend to be dry and feel thick. Anyway, if you want to be comfortable, make sure you moisturize your skin really well or use a hydrating foundation.

To be honest, I expected a lot from this concealer. I wish it was lighter, more hydrating, and I wish I hadn't chosen the wrong color <T.T> I'm quite satisfied with the coverage, but I wish the texture and formula were better. Oh, did I mention that this product is friendly to my acne-prone skin? Yes, it does not cause pimples nor does it clog my pores. Even though it doesn't have much effect on reducing pimples, it calms my skin quite well and covers up my redness well. The good side that I have to convey to you, especially those with acne-prone skin.

So, what do you think? Are you interested to give it a try?
