Sun screen seems to be one of the most important thing in our morning and day skin regime. But the common problems I, mostly, faced with every sun screen I’ve tried are the white cast and skin irritation, if the product couldn’t have a nice relationship with my sensitive skin.
To be honest, I eliminated all sun-face-care products that contain of high Titanium Dioxide because it tends to, or absolutely will, leave whitecast. I want to avoid that. I also opt to avoid every products which have high alcohol in their ingredients list. I know, I sound too picky but I really want a friendly product for my sensitive skin, though. So yeah, I paid the Etude House Clear Sun Stick as it seemed to be the best choice, especially when I read the ingredients. I have a high expectation from this product, so let’s see!

PACKAGING
Etude House UV Double Cut Clear Sun Stick was wrapped in a clear plastic seal when it came at my doorstep. Well, I thought I would get an outer box from this product, but I didn’t. I know it doesn’t reduce the formula and quality of this sun stick but a box will make the product itself feels more classy, right?
The product size is smaller than I thought, it is very handy and travel friendly. I know the design itself is far away from cute, but otherwise it looks simple yet professional. The description on the back side comes without ingredients list, but it’s clear enough to know the benefits and how to use the product.
Once open up the cap of this clear sun stick, we will find another transparent lid inside to protect the product and keep it more hygienic. To take out the sun stick itself, we have to slide to right the slide-rod (on the lower part of the container) and this tool glides very nice thus we can easily control the height of the sun stick we want to use. Overall, I really like the packaging and so far do not have any gripe about it.
COLOR AND TEXTURE
The sun stick itself comes in a transparent soft-yellow color. It will become colorless and unnoticeable once applied on skin. Well, almost unnoticeable. You can see on the photo, the UV Double Cut Clear Sun Stick blends seamlessly on my skin. You probably see nothing on my back hand, but if you look very closely there is a little shine where the red arrow points to. It’s free white cast. Like you don’t apply anything on skin. Absolutely, if you do not like white or grey cast effect from sunscreen products, the clear sun stick can be your best escape.
The stick itself is solid but very soft in texture. It makes the application even easier and comfortable. When I apply the sun stick onto my skin, it feels and glides softly and smoothly. Even so, the stick doesn’t feel too mushy, nor leave clumpy residue. Also, the stick is still firm and not clumpy at all after many times of use.
SCENT
This product has a mild and fresh scent. The scent doesn’t smell clearly unless you sniff it very closely and intensely to the stick itself. I know it’s a good point for anyone who has sensitive nose, but honestly I don’t mind if Etude House made it a little bit stronger (just a little bit) since the scent is actually refreshing in my opinion.
RESULT
Etude House UV Double Cut Clear Sun Stick has light to medium thickness. As far as you do not over apply, it will feel comfortable on skin, without feeling heavy and tacky. It doesn’t have oil control, but the good thing, it doesn’t make my skin more oily either. I couldn’t feel its powdery finish like the claim but, yess, it doesn’t feel greasy. Though I can’t say the result is matte, but it doesn’t give too much shine on skin, hence this product is also suitable for oily skin.
Meanwhile, for dry skin type, I bet you will like this sun stick. I have dry patches on my cheeks area and applying this product doesn’t accentuate any ugly patches on that place. It gives a decent amount of moisturizing effect on skin without feeling too sticky (no wonder, they added Chamomile, Aloe Vera and Bamboo Water in its ingredients) , but remember to apply in a proper amount.
Aside from its decent moisturizing effect and high protection from its SPF 50+ PA++++ formula, practically this sun stick doesn’t have any other special result like minimizing pores appearance or covering any imperfections on my skin. But due to its transparent and colorless result, it doesn’t ruin my foundation shade. It’s very okay to use this product under my foundie and makeup routine. But, I do not recommend to apply or re-apply this product over your makeup. Somehow, it would be a bit clumpy or tacky.
I would like to recommend Etude House UV Double Cut Clear Sun Stick SPF 50+ PA++++ if you want a quick and simple suncare product and do not like any white cast result from it (and, of course, if you’re looking for an affordable product). I’ve been using this sun stick for a month and I like it. Its high SPF content works nicely to protect against sun’s UV radiation and sunburn. Also, its lightweight formula doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin too.
